I would like to receive the Love Your Home newsletter for updates, inspiration and exclusive offers.
My last blog talked about how to go about starting to design a room and that inspiration can come from anything be it a picture, rug or plant. This starting point forms the basis of your room design and sofas and beds are the easiest way to bring in both colour and texture.
Here you can see how the shades and tones of these elegant delicate roses could be the starting point for your colour scheme. The velvety and smooth texture of the petals can be reflected in the buttoning of the sofa. The bold use of this majestic colour and tonal cushions and footstool makes it ideal for a formal, elegant sitting room be it contemporary or traditional.
Our Oscar Wing Back Armchair upholstered in stain resistant velvet Pinot Noir is understated and elegant and is evocative of a smart ‘club’ of hotel chic yet makes a big statement in a living room. We decided to set this against deep blue black walls but he looks equally proud against a brighter more contemporary background.
The watercolour drawing of the palm leaf formed the starting point of our inspiration with this bedroom. The washes of tonal greens offer a relaxing vibe essential in the bedroom which is conducive to ‘unwinding’ at the end of the day. This interior looks great when you layer in brighter tones with accessories such as the cushions shown here.
Here we've used the palm leaf watercolour art again but with a lighter duck egg for the walls. We have taken the natural colours of the palm leaves to work with the rug and the gold sculpture which sits beautifully with the deep, rich Green Velvet that we have used on the sophisticated Tallulah Chaise Longue.
We love the dark versus light colour contrasts shown above. The dusty pinks and browns used together both complement each other and create a warm and welcoming interior. We have then added our Eliza Chair which injects a traditional twist and adds to the inviting yet timeless feel.
