The Surrey Hills are a very popular place to visit, offering some of South East England’s most beautiful and accessible countryside. There is an extensive footpath network, where you can explore famous beauty spots such as Box Hill, Leith Hill, Hydon's Ball and Devil’s Punch Bowl. One fabulous place we would suggest you visit is Hydon’s Ball, which is one of the highest points in Surrey and has magnificent views across the surrounding countryside right down to the South Downs. You can enjoy the peaceful walks across the heath and the woodland, whilst listening to the Nightingales in the spring, and the Siskin and Brambling in the winter. For an exhilarating walk we recommend the Octavia Hill walk, which takes around one hour. This cool walk around the shady woodland and open heath is perfect for families. By car take the B2130 from Godalming and head south, at Busbridge turn right onto the Hambledon Road, keep going right down and onto Salts Lane and you’re
there!

If you're feeling peckish after that walk we highly recommend The Merry Harriers Pub, situated in Hambledon on the Hambledon road. This 16th Century Pub Free House is a traditional village pub, serving excellent homemade meals such as Beer Battered Cod & Chips to delicious Braised Shoulder of local lamb. It's already making our mouths water just thinking about it! The pub constantly changes their menu to suit the seasons, along with a variety of beverages and ales that are locally sourced. Not only do they have fantastic locally sourced fresh food, but they also have 1 acre of land for all year round camping, which is incredibly popular, along with the chance to see Llamas! Yes, Llamas! For the the ultimate family trip out, you can trek with the Llamas and have a fabby lunch back at the pub.

We have also found other great spots to visit around the local area, one being the historic town of Godalming. Godalming has gorgeous narrow lanes, lined with historic buildings that lie alongside the River Wey. There are various shops within Godalming along with gorgeous tea shops and café’s that are perfect for a cake stop off half way through the day. For those with transport, we recommend the Secretts Farm shop near Mildford that is perfect for picnic food and their infamous salads. For a lovely relaxed afternoon, take a stroll along the river to Farncombe Boat House, where you can take out a rowboat, punt or canoe. Or, if you and your family are looking for that extra little something, head to Farnham and experience Go Ape Tree Top Adventure which is the UK’s No.1 Forest Adventure at Alice Holt. You and your family can take to the trees and experience the exciting rope course full of bridges, Tarzan swings and crossings, all set high above the forest floor. All these exciting trips are just some of what Surrey has to offer, so pack your picnics, grab the kids and head down for a lovely family day out.
